Intersurgical Achieves Business Growth Through Membership of UKprocure Systems eMarketplace
Posted on Jan 17, 2005Intersurgical, a leading manufacturer and supplier of integrated respiratory care products, has announced that it has grown its business with specific customers within the NHS by around twelve per cent, partly as a result of its membership of the UKprocure Systems eMarketplace.
A member of the UKprocure Systems eMarketplace since 2001, Intersurgical has made its entire product portfolio available to the UK's largest healthcare eCommerce community. NHS organisations can source and purchase Intersurgical's products via the UKprocure Systems eMarketplace, whilst reducing error rates and the associated costs to virtually zero. This has helped NHS organisations to reduce the total cost of acquisition of Intersurgical products, at the same time as rationalising the procurement process and spending. Based on the success of its membership to the UKprocure Systems eMarketplace, Intersurgical is now involved in a pilot of the UKprocure Systems electronic invoicing (eInvoicing) solution with Cardiff & Vale NHS Trust.
Phil Lansley, Senior Project Manager at Cardiff & Vale NHS Trust said: "We are delighted that key suppliers to the NHS, such as Intersurgical, are working with us to establish fully integrated trade through the UKprocure Systems eMarketplace. Intersurgical is now building on its commitment by engaging with us through eInvoicing. eInvoicing is a core strategic move for the Trust: it enables us to achieve error-free trade, make tangible efficiency savings and significantly cut the total cost of acquisition of goods and services. Engaging in eInvoicing with suppliers such as Intersurgical means that supplier management is now done by fact. In the past, there was a lot of time spent both on the buyer and supplier side discussing any of a multitude of errors that can occur with manual processes. The achievement of error-free trade with suppliers means that we can now concentrate on building long-term, strategic and mutually beneficial relationships with our suppliers."
The UKprocure Systems eMarketplace enables multiple buyer and supplier organisations to engage in fully integrated trade through one single link. NHS buyers are able to obtain access to Intersurgical's organisation-specific product and price lists. UKprocure SystemseMarketplace enables NHS purchasers to place orders with Intersurgical and track the status and receipt of goods ordered. As part of the eInvoicing pilot, Intersurgical is able to issue automated invoices through the integration of its back-end order management system into UKprocure SystemseMarketplace eInvoicing module. Trading with customers via the UKprocure Systems eMarketplace increases the accuracy of orders received, reduces invoice queries from customers and results in a reduced payment cycle.
Mark Ellis, Sales and Marketing Manager at Intersurgical said: "We understand that the NHS has made a major commitment to electronic trading. To support our customers in meeting their political and economic objectives, Intersurgical has embraced eCommerce. We have made a strategic decision to commit ourselves to the UKprocure Systems eMarketplace, because of the critical mass of trading connections it offers. Our membership of the UKprocure Systems eMarketplace delivers tangible benefits to our business: not only has it enabled us to improve relationships with existing clients, it has also helped us generate new business opportunities. Automated trading has also meant less paperwork and increased accuracy for Intersurgical, which has reduced the cost of doing business with our NHS customers."
Shish Lal, CEO of UKprocure Systems said: "NHS organisations have made a significant commitment to eCommerce and are actively looking for suppliers whom they can engage in electronic trade with. Intersurgical's ability to engage in fully automated trade with the NHS via the UKprocure Systems eMarketplace, creates a win/win situation for both parties. NHS organisations are able to meet the political and economic efficiency targets outlined in the Gershon report, by streamlining their procurement processes and reducing the total cost of acquisition. Access to the critical mass of NHS buying organisations on the UKprocure Systems eMarketplace, has provided a fast return on Intersurgical's eCommerce investment and provided new business opportunities with both existing and new customers."
